Hi,

I’m Ben and I’m the author of the blog posts on, and the creator of, this website and I’m so glad you’re here!

My Story of Playing and Learning about Soccer

Growing Up

I’ve loved watching, playing, talking, and learning about soccer all my life.

Some of my earliest memories are talking to my friends about which soccer team we should support. I must have only been 5 or 6 years old at the time!

I grew up playing soccer with friends almost every day. I would play at school during breaks and after school. We would always be trying to get better and learn new tricks.

When I was growing up, you would often find me walking around my house, kicking a ball. (Though it’s worth pointing out that this was a soft foam ball as I didn’t want to break anything, and I probably wasn’t allowed to use a harder one!)

I have played soccer all around the world

Throughout my life, I’ve played countless hours of soccer for a variety of different teams. In rain, sun, snow, and storms. And I must have watched thousands of hours of live soccer and highlights from games.

I’ve played soccer in at least 10 different countries, as I’ve traveled throughout my life.

One of the great things about having been to other countries is seeing how passionate people are about soccer all around the world. It’s an incredible tool that can be used to connect people from all sorts of cultures and backgrounds.

Family and life outside of soccer

I was born in England, the home of soccer!, but currently live with my wife, Naomi, and two daughters, Alyssa and Keeva, in New Zealand.

When I’m not working on this website I work in my local hospital as an anaesthetic technician or Operating Department Practitioner.

There’s always more to learn about soccer!

No matter how much time I’ve spent thinking about or playing soccer, I still find there’s more to learn and ways to improve. This is one reason why I enjoy contributing on Quora (have a look at my profile here.) I also regularly post on my Facebook page.

The reason for this website is to be able to share some of that info with you so you can love and understand the game of soccer more.
